4 day training course for artists intending to make a living from their work.

Run by Herefordshire Creative Industries – the county agency supporting artists and crafts people.

The course is tutored by local artists and gives you practical information about how to:

1.      Apply for grants

2.      Sell at fairs and trade shows

3.      Earn money in schools

4.      Price your work

5.      Set up and run community projects

6.      Work with galleries

The course builds confidence and enthusiasm whilst expanding your local network and giving you lots of information about how to make your creative career happen.

One of the most valuable aspects of the course is the chance to meet artists and crafts people who are supporting themselves through their creativity.

“I feel more inspired to do something with my craft.  It helped me think about new routes to take such as participatory arts.  I feel I know who to contact when I need advice on something”. Starting Out participant.

Herefordshire Creative Industries runs the High Town Craft Market, can give advice on funding sources and is involved in the h-Art Week and the Contemporary Craft Fair.

The course is about the business of being an artist, about what you need to know and who you need to know to be successful.
